This weekend a local gaming group that meets up on a Wednesday were having a whole day of gaming. Unfortunately  for me I coach football on Wednesday so have never been able to go and play anyone there. Now this group of players is where the current London GT champ plays so was looking forward to some good close games of legion.  Now I reached out to the group and who was the first person to offer me a game. Jack the current champ who beat me in London so was looking forward to this.\nI turned up with 4 lists with a bit of variety from things I want to play for fun to what I want to take to my next tournament. Jack said he had a list he wants to try for a tournament so let's put our try hard lists down.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n
My List<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This list is the exact same list I played a couple of weeks ago on this blog with 0 changes. Knowing that Jack is a good player this would be a good test for me and the list. I break down the list in more depth in my first blog here<\/a>.\nI'm contemplating not taking Aggressive Tactics and put in another repair droid and upgrade the E-5C to another E-5s since the surge tokens on b1 units don't feel like value and it's not often the red saves have an order to get a surge token.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n
Jacks List<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Jack has a soft spot for Jyn so was not surprised to see her in his list and I know he can play her well so need to keep my wits about me for that Complete the mission towards the end of the game. \nHan Solo is a nice change to see on the table but not unexpected with the fact he now has steady and the changes to low profile with his uncanny luck should mean he can survive quite a lot.\nChewbacca and the Bistan pathfinders might be an issue for me due to the Ion and impact so will have to focus these down as quick as possible.\nthe bomb strike teams are a nice touch and depending on the objective could start to cause issues for me if I'm not careful. \nThe triple AT-RT laser cannons are fantastic for me! something to Ion and laugh as they get 0 actions. The low dice pool with lots of impact and nothing to fire support with it means they can get a shot on my Spiders only for me to return fire and ion them. With the current armour meta with busses and Spiders I understand the choice but think it hurts him more than helps his list.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n

With Jack having the 2 point bid was blue player he decided to he didn't want to give my droids heavy cover and lots of bodies so banned Fortified Positions. With sabotage in the first slot that was a quick easy decision for me.\nSecond Ban Jack went with Supply Drop while me not wanting War Weary got to use the advantage of the new banning system for us to play clear conditions, Intercept the transmissions, Roll out.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n

Standing Orders vs Assult<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
I wanted orders on my spider droids so once each of the AT-RT moved forward to shoot me I could retaliate and would also have an aim token. With winning the priority I also had a shot from my middle spider to one of the strike teams where I could see both models in the open. With my first activation of the spider droid, I aimed and shot them for a full 6 hits. They used duck and cover and with low profile still meant they had to roll 4 saves but didn't roll a single save. Each of the AT-RT had to move forward and took a shot doing a few wounds but in return took the same amount plus being ioned. \nMy middle spider took an Ion from Bistan for it to be removed by a repair droid and the rest of my army moved up ready to shoot next turn.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n

Change of Plans vs Do Not Underestimate Our Means<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Jack decided not to send the command card back to my hand and accept a roll off. Jack put an order on the top AT-RT hoping to at least shoot and try and kill one of the spiders before being double ioned. He put two wounds on the spider leaving it alive on 1 health at which point I went with a b1 sniper squad to move and shoot putting a wound on the AT-RT and repair to remove the damage token and wound token from the spider. This was the start of things starting to go downhill for Jack. His next few units he pulled from the stack where troopers and Han with none of them being able to pop out from behind the cover. In the mean time my spiders and the Magnaguard had killed off all 3 AT-RT units with two of them being double ion as they died.\nAs we approached the end of turn 2 Jack's remaining units where pinned down. If they moved towards the centre objective I would get free shots. I was still on 11 activations and he was now down to 8. It was at this point Jack decided there was no point carrying on.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n
Summary<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
This was another perfect match up for this list with my opponent having armour for me to ion. A perfect gunline set up where the order control makes my opponent move to me so I could Aim shoot or Recover shoot anything that moved towards me. I did feel bad about how fast the game was over but Jack was great. His friends who came over were saying I'm sorry he is beating you in two turns after the distance you have travelled. At which point Jack corrected them and then they laughed and said good job. Jack also plays droids and appreciated being shown how to play this type of list since he had a similar triple spiders list but runs 1 flamer 2 ion.
